Mission:
Gathering
People, Growing Leaders, Going Into The World.
Purpose:
Our
mission statement reveals our purpose that is to evangelize
the unchurched and to disciple them into fully devoted
followers of Christ, to then be sent into the world
around them to be a witness of the Lord.
History:
Family
Worship Center Ministries came to be in 1993 after much
prayer by Pastors Val and Sherry Treece. Before then
the church was known as Christ Chapel and had existed
for fifteen years as a small fellowship. Since then
the church has grown to a membership of over 800 people
of many races and ethnicities, with at least ten nations
represented in our membership.
Through
our Missions Ministry and Outreaches such as Operation
Hope Neighborhood ministries, the Dream Center of Jackson,
and Family Christian School, along with “Feed
the Multitudes,” an annual celebration, are all
a part of our effort to carry the whole gospel to our
city & the whole world.
Values:
We
value the Bible. We believe it to be the
inerrant and infallible word of God. The principles
given therein are commands for our lives and should
be adhered to with the best of our ability while trusting
the grace of God to carry us through when we fall short
and repent.
We
value Diversity. Just as our world is
made up of various races and cultures, we desire for
our church to be the same. God is our creator and He
is no respecter of persons, and neither should the church.
We
value Giftings. We are open to and desire
Spiritual gifts (1 Cor. 14:1). We understand that the
manifestation of the spiritual gifts in our lives greatly
enhances our ability to love and serve one another and
they confirm that we are on target for life (1 Cor.
12:7).
We
value Relationships. Our faith is the
common factor that links us together as a family of
believers to Christ and to each other. Our relationships
are built upon the pillar of covenant. The covenant
we have with God, our family, and our church should
not be taken lightly. Our love for God is proven in
our love for our neighbor (Matt. 22:37-40).
We
value Giving. For us, giving is a way
of living and worship unto God. We are a generous people
who understand the principles of sowing and reaping
(2 Cor. 9:6). We are not called to hoard everything
God bestows upon us, but rather we are to allow His
blessings to flow through our lives and be a blessing
to others.
We
value Spontaneity. Although we make plans
and preparations, we trust the Holy Spirit enough to
do His thing in our lives (Prov. 16:9). We have resided
to the fact that God is sovereign and He can be unexpected.
We cherish the leading of the Holy Spirit.
We
value Righteousness. We thank God that
Jesus Christ is our liberator. Our freedom rests in
the fact that we are declared righteous by our relationship
with Jesus (2 Cor. 5:17-21). As we grow in our knowledge
of God, we discover who we are in Him- righteous.
